Once a distinguished old Tuscan farmhouse, Villa Cerreto has been completely restored to its original splendor. A winding, tree-lined, private country road leads to the property and its own gated grounds and gardens.

Villa Cerreto offers the utmost in refinement, elegance and comfort; its highly spacious interiors offer total comfort as an ideal location for family reunions and group gatherings. The villa is decorated in a refined Tuscan country style, with a select number of restored antique pieces. The materials and design are of the highest quality; you will marvel at the exposed beam ceilings, old Tuscan terracotta floors, specially aged parquet flooring in all bedrooms and the grès and terracotta tiled bathrooms with marble and antique wood fittings. Colorwashed walls in light pastels create a relaxing country feel.

The extremely spacious ground floor living area opens out through a series of original Tuscan brick archways. Go to one side and you'll find a cozy sitting/reading room that offers satellite TV and video facilities; around the corner in the main lounge area, the first thing to catch your eye will be a great old Tuscan fireplace. More than 25 guests can easily be accommodated in the magnificent double-dining area, featuring a beautiful, heavy antique main table. The large, highly functional and pretty country kitchen is fully equipped for your forays into Tuscan cuisine. The villa offers 10 elegant and comfortable bedrooms, including 7 queen bedrooms and 3 twin bedrooms, all with en suite or private bathrooms.

The villa boasts magnificent, full-circle views, with the neighboring hill towns of Montaione, Gambassi and Castelfiorentino visible on the horizon. The spectacular infinity-edge pool is strategically placed to enjoy superb exposure from sunrise to sunset. Overlooking the pool and leading directly down to the poolside sun terrace is a beautiful loggia with veranda, featuring sumptuous, teak, colonial style furniture; open Tuscan brickwork; and terracotta tiles. Adjacent to the loggia is a very large open barbecue and grill with roasting spit, large stone washbasin and work area. The beautifully landscaped garden features extensive Mediterranean shrub and herbaceous borders; rose and lavender gardens; pine and cypress trees; an olive grove and a large flat lawn area, which is an ideal play area for children. Both the pool and gardens are lit at night.

Villa Cerreto is approximately 20 minutes away from the 18-hole international golf course at Castelfalfi. Horseback riding and tennis are only 10 minutes away. It is advisable to rent a car while at Villa Cerreto, since the closest shops and restaurants are about 3.5 miles from the property.

What to do in the Montaione region of Tuscany

San Gimignano
Atop one of the hills that dominate the Elsa Valley is the ancient medieval city of San Gimignano, which still preserves its roots and boasts beautiful works of art. Highlights which must be seen are the Collegiate Church and Museo Civico. The Collegiate Church, one of the most famous in the world, contains frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli and Ghirlandaio, while the Museo Civico has a renowned collection of apothecary jars from the Spezieria di Santa Fina. Besides its famous Vernaccia wine, San Gimignano's many shops offer the products of typical Tuscan artisans, marked by the skill and tradition handed down from father to son. Here you can enjoy everything from boar sausages to cheeses, from terracotta to hand-made pottery to leather goods.

Volterra
The magical and mysterious city of Volterra has its roots in three thousand years of history. In this unique, artistic city, you can find evidence and traces of every historical period. Besides being a city of museums, Volterra is rich in natural beauty. There are organized excursions on foot, on horseback or by bicycle along sign-posted itineraries. Volterra is also famous for the regional gastronomical specialties and for the warm hospitality offered to visitors. During the summer, there are many cultural events like the annual festival Volterra Teatro, classical and contemporary music concerts, exhibitions and folklore events that enable visitors to enjoy a rich and varied holiday.
