Step inside this rural dream house, in which each detail and hue, fabric and feature, bears the personal imprint of the owner, a well-known Italian designer. You may recognize the perfectly manicured grounds and impeccably coordinated interior from past published pieces in numerous international magazines and design books. Or, you might just enjoy settling in for a restful, well-coordinated get-away in the lap of luxury, surrounded by the wonders of nature. The villa is built amidst the rolling Tuscan hills, and is comfortably tucked within 50 acres of private woodland. It faces a lush back garden, seasonally awash in the bright spectrum and fragrant scents of roses, jasmine, and lavender, and shaded by verdant olive trees. Several outdoor seating areas offer southwest exposures and glorious sunsets.

Villa Solara offers a magnificent contrast in terms—an eclectic mix of contemporary design and Old World antiques. Enter the home and you'll find yourself inside a large living room that leads out to a beautiful swimming pool and a gracious, covered sitting area. The ground level also offers a cozy, compact office space with desk and fax. You'll also find a rustic (yet modern) well-stocked kitchen with an informal dining area, as well as a formal dining room. There are also two air-conditioned bedrooms (queen and twin), with bathrooms. Climbing up to the first floor, you'll revel in the three other bedrooms (French bed, queen, twin), all with air conditioning. All of the beds in the house, from the twins to the four-poster queen, have striking architectural details that make them instant conversation pieces. The Daylight Basement houses a seventh twin bedroom, along with the convenience of an in-house laundry room with washer and dryer.

The villa opens onto a walled garden and covered patio facing the swimming pool. Other al fresco dining areas are found near the front alcove entry, and the back.

Villa Solara is beautifully positioned in the rolling Tuscan hills. The villa offers a natural hide-away, with amenities that let you plug into the real world: satellite TV, stereo, phone, and dishwasher. Jump in your car for a speedy 10-minute drive to the quaint spa town San Casciano dei Bagni, known worldwide for its healing thermal spa and superb shopping and restaurants. It is also just a day's drive to several key-destination cities, including Siena, Florence, and Rome. Enjoy!

What to do in the San Casciano dei Bagni region of Tuscany
Take a visit to the reknowned thermal spa in San Casciano dei Bagni. It was the Etruscans who first discovered the healing properties of the thermal waters in Val d'Orcia. In the 17th century, the renowned Medici family built a series of baths, which have been reborn as a luxurious new spa featured in Travel & Leisure.

The enchanting town of Cetona will charm you with its cobblestone streets and medieval architecture. This lovely village has grown in popularity as a home for international artists and socialites. Stop for an exquisite lunch or dinner at Osteria Vecchia (so good!)—you won't be disappointed.

Definitely worth a visit are Orvieto, Assisi and Todi. Head to Deruta to shop for the renowned local ceramics. Last but not least, make sure to check out the chocolate museum in Perugia!
